The Planetary Geodynamics Lab is part of the Department of Geological Sciences which is situated in the A.W. Smith Building. We have access to local and state-wide high-performance cluster computing resources as well as our own computational facilities. The Lab has an AMD Opteron-based, 18-cpu high-performance cluster. The renovated laboratory holds space for shared workstation computing, work, and conference facilities for our students and researchers.
The Department also maintains common geophysics equipment for use in teaching and research. These include:
- Geometrics Geode 12-channel seismometer
- Two GEM Systems proton-precession magnetometers
- MiniSting Electrical resistivity equipment
- Geonics EM31-D electrical conductivity meter
- Thales ProMark3 surveying GPS equipment
